Know Your Rights

The Contract

Our contract is a binding agreement between our Collective Bargaining Unit and the university. Its components, called planks, are researched, written, and bargained-for by graduate workers, and the ratified contract provides a threshold for our interactions with the university. As we continue to develop an anti-oppressive praxis and fight to make Michigan State University a sanctuary for all who live and work here, we build on these planks and continue to organize for expanded protections and benefits for graduate workers and our communities.

In this section, you can read our contract in full or in a plain-language version, learn about grievances and the support available to address them, the benefits (such as healthcare, the tuition waiver pool, and the Solidarity Grant fund) available to you as a union member.
